With the stepping down of Head Coach Rick Windl at the end of the 2019 campaign for family reasons, a hole was left that was going to be difficult to fill. The search committee went to work almost immediately looking for a successor to the experience and leadership that Rick brought to the club.
After a two month process General Manager Ryan Fitton is excited to announce Jeff Snyder as the new Head Coach for the Wilmot Wild. "Selecting the right person for the job was a difficult decision" stated Fitton. "I think Jeff has the knack for the getting the most out of his players and he brings a winning attitude to the club which will be key in the success of the club moving forward".
Jeff grew up playing his minor lacrosse in Elmira and Kitchener before spending 3 seasons with the Jr B KW Braves. He spent 2 seasons with the Jr A KW Braves and had a cup of coffee with the St Catharines Athletics. He then went on to play 5 seasons of Sr A ball with Six Nations, Brampton and Fergus combined. Jeff has several championships to his credit as a player and we know he will bring that thirst to the table for the 2020 version of the Wild.
With over 30 years of coaching minor box and field, Jeff feels the time is right to make the jump to Jr lacrosse. "I think he will get the Wild back to the top of the West Division and help us achieve our goal of returning to the Meredith Cup", stated club President Wayne Paddick. "Jeff is extremely enthusiastic yet will be demanding behind the bench which is exactly what the doctor ordered in replacing Windl."
The season for Snyder and Fitton has already started and plans for the 2020 version of the club are well underway. Please join us in welcoming Jeff to the fold as we look forward to his experience and passion in getting the club back on top.
