A HUGE opening win for the Wild yesterday as they take an important Game 1 on home floor vs the Fergus Thistles Jr. C Lacrosse. The boys got on the scoreboard early and never looked back en route to their first win of the post season in 2019
The Wild got on the board just over a minute in and came back again on the next shift to make it 2-0 with just under 2 minutes played. Eventually the Wild would open it up to 4-1 and take a 3 goal lead to the room after twenty mihutes. First period goals by Blake Wideman (2), Derek Jensen and Matt Wyman.
The second frame saw the fellas open up a 7-1 lead before the Thistles would storm back and make it 7-5 before the end of the period. Penalty trouble would prove to be a factor in this one for both clubs at different points of the game but an overall good game called by the officials. Second period markers notched by Ethan Warden and Kent Radbourne (2).
The third saw the Thistles open the scoring to make it 7-6 but the Wild would regain their footing on the PP and make it a 9-6 contest. The teams would exchange singles after that and the Wild win this one 11-7 to take a 1-0 series lead in the best of 5 contest.
Thanks to our friends from Canada Linc English - Wilmot who joined us with their students from Spain and France. Great way to expose these young students from abroad to Canada's National Summer Sport. Thanks for joining us Kelly and company!
