Your Wild came out strong today and made short work of the visiting Six Nations Warriors. The Wild got up early and held the lead and coasted to a big win to take the series lead 1-0.
A tight battle to start the game as it took almost 6 minutes to get the games first goal. The Wild would get it and run 2 more to take a 3-0 lead. The Warrior would get one back before the Wild would answer again. With the period winding down the Warriors would notch 2 more to make it a 4-3 Wild lead heading to the locker room after 20 minutes. WIld goal scorers in the first period were Kent Radbourne, Ryan Buller, Ryan Smart and Matthew Wyman.
We are still not sure what message Defensive Coach Kevin Miller sent to his guys but the D shut down the second most potent offence in the OJCLL during the regular season rest of the way. The Wild offence took over and scored 5 more times in the second frame to take a 9-3 lead to the dressing room after 40 mins. Second period goal scorers were Tyler Verutis, Hayden Berger (2), Travis Weber and Samwe Dramnitzke.
The third period was a little more tame as the Wild would continue to dominate both ends of the floor and score the only two goals of the period. Buller would notch the only two goals of the frame and Andrew Chenier and the Defense would shut the door the rest of the way.
Congrats to the Wild for a great effort but there is still lots of lacrosse left to get through this series. Game 2 goes Thursday night in Six Nations at the ILA with another 8PM start. Thanks also to our friends from North Perth Outlaws Lacrosse who joined us to take in the game and meet the players afterwards. Always love having our young up and comings in the crowd cheering on the Wildmen to victory. Thanks for joining us!
