Well that was a little too close for comfort! The Wild started strong but let the Mountaineers stay in this one and it went down to the wire.
The Wild opened up the scoring in the first period just over 2 mins in and then added another on the next shift. The Wild were cruising and then the mental blocks kicked in and the Wild found themselves down 3-2 after one frame. First period goals by Kent Radbourne and Sam Dramnitzke.
The Second period saw the Wild wake up a little but the teams were back and forth the whole frame. Things were not crisp and both teams were a little sloppy in this affair. Was tough to determine who the teachers were from pupils at times. The Wild were able to erase the Mimico lead and take one of their own to the dressing room after 40 mins with a slim 6-5 margin. Second frame goals notched by Radbourne, Nagy (2) and Randy Borghese with his first goal of the year.
With 20 mins to go the Wildmen bore down and put their collective noses into the books and were able to recollect what Coach Windl has been teaching them. The Wild were able to match their offensive output from the second period and scored another 4 markers to the Mountaineers 1. The Wild pull out a win to keep their unbeaten streak alive for the season with a final score of 10-6. Third period goals scored by Dylan Kuntz, Radbourne (2) and Tyler Verutis. A strong night between the pipes for young Reyd Fittonand the entire D for only allowing 6 goals against.
The Wild are back at it in under 24 hours as they play host to the Brantford Jr. C Warriors Lacrosse for their home opener tomorrow at 3PM at the Wilmot Recreation Complex.
